The latest edition of the award-winning Yosemite Sierra Visitors Guide has been released, featuring cover photographs by noted Yosemite photographer Nancy Robbins.
This year the fifty-page booklet celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the Yosemite Grant on June 30, 2014 and encourages participation in the multitude of festivities planned around the occasion. The guide also serves as a comprehensive source of information about everything Madera County: California’s Gateway to Yosemite has to offer the vacationer, sightseer and even local residents.
“There’s something in it for everyone. This is the single most useful tool we can give a traveler to our area,” says Rhonda Salisbury, Director of Marketing for Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau. “We spend nearly a year compiling each issue to ensure it has the very latest, most up-to-date information on lodging, dining, camping, recreational activities and events in Madera County and Yosemite.”
Where to go for weather information, where to find golf courses, water sports, RV parks, tour and transportation providers, Chambers of Commerce, wineries and museums are additional elements contained within its covers. A comprehensive list of hotels, inns, bed-and-breakfasts, campgrounds and resorts arranged by location details amenities and price ranges for virtually all area lodging choices.
In addition, the 2014 issue contains snapshots of pre-planned itineraries such as the Fossils to Falls journey from Chowchilla’s Fossil Discovery Center of Madera County up the mountain to the waterfalls in Yosemite Valley. The Majestic Mountain Loop illustrates how visitors with limited time can traverse three national parks in just three days. Other maps include Bass Lake and the Sierra Vista National Scenic Byway. Thumbnail sketches of Madera County communities, describing the features and activities available in each, rounds out the issue.
“Our volunteers strive to place a copy of the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Guide in the hands of every visitor entering our visitor center,” Rhonda says. “If they want to see Yosemite, the centerfold map gives them a clear picture of where they are and shows them how to get where they want to go. In addition we gladly make copies available to hotels, businesses, travel planners, AAA offices, county government offices and more.” Thousands of copies accompany Bureau representatives to national and international trade shows, reaching thousands of consumers and travel professionals.
