Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), a statewide public virtual school option for students in grades K-2, announced today that the school will take part in National School Choice Week 2014, an initiative designed to shine a positive spotlight on the need for effective education options for all children. From January 26-February 1, VAVA will celebrate the power of school choice and bring together students/families to share their unique experiences, meet other students, win prizes and take part in fun activities.
To kick off the festivities, VAVA will join others at the State Capitol in Richmond, VA on January 29 for the 2nd Annual Virginia School Choice Day. At the event, student/families and members of the community will hear from leading speakers in the school choice movement, as well as champions in the legislature. Members of the VAVA staff will be on hand to answer any questions and attendees will have an opportunity to visit the Capitol and meet with State Senators and Representatives.
“What makes VAVA special is our incredible community, full of students who are passionate about their education and parents who are committed to seeing their children succeed,” said Suzanne Sloane, Head of School for Virginia Virtual Academy. “Each year, National School Choice Week and Virginia School Choice Day motivates us to continue advocating for students and families who choose to take a more active role in education. This is our chance to join together in solidarity and show the power behind school choice.”
