National Association of Professional Women Announces Randa Roberts, Owner of ThinkPinkTickets.com, as VIP Woman of the Year

NAPW honors Randa Roberts as a 2013/2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership with this prestigious distinction. “I started my company for multiple reasons, mainly because both my grandmothers battled with and died of breast cancer. Because of them, I’ve always been involved with organizations that support breast cancer research,” says Ms. Roberts. "I am also one of four girls in my family and statistically one of us will be diagnosed with breast cancer. I knew I had to come up with a way to help others who were affected or might become affected by this devastating disease.”
Deciding to focus on supporting breast cancer research and awareness, last August, Ms. Roberts launched ThinkPinkTickets.com. The online ticket brokerage firm donates 5% of all ticket sales to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization that was started by Evelyn Lauder in 1993. From sporting events, musical and theatrical performances to live concerts, even hotel and motel accommodations, Think PinkTickets.com offers consumers unlimited access to tickets “anywhere, anytime” around the country and all over the world.
Tickets purchased through ThinkPinkTickets.com are 3% less than most other online sites, says Ms. Roberts, and consumers are never charged a convenience fee. “Our mission is ‘Putting breast cancer out-of-business one ticket at a time,’” says Ms. Roberts. “Everyone can make a difference when they purchase a ticket from us. There is hardly a person out there who hasn’t been touched by breast cancer. We are really trying to make an impact!”

Legacy Center Creates Extreme Makeover of HomeStart Facility for Homeless Women and Children

HomeStart Residential Facility for Homeless Women and Children in Chapel Hill, NC is receiving a complete transformation of their kitchen and playroom. Legacy Center's NC 147 leadership team is creating an extreme makeover of several rooms in the facility and a day of pampering and fun for the women and children. The members of the NC 147 Leadership Team from the Legacy Center in Chapel Hill, NC envision a world in which every human being feels worthy and appreciated by creating this project and transforming the facility.
This extreme makeover project is the culmination of Legacy Center’s three-month leadership development program. This project will vastly improve and beautify a kitchen and playroom in the facility. It will provide the HomeStart facility with new dishwashers, an electric cook top, new counter tops, and general repairs. The playroom will be painted and will be furnished with new toys, games, tables, chairs, lamps, a play mat and storage containers. A spa day will be created for the women and children to have them own their beauty and worth. This day will be provided by massage therapists, beauticians, nail technicians and performers.
What makes this project unique is that the Legacy Center Leadership team must design the project from start to finish, cannot use any of their own money, must involve the community to do 75% of the work and also have it complete in a two days!
Legacy Center focuses on projects that benefit many different domains such as family, animals, environment and the elderly. NC 147 has chosen to leave a legacy in the domain of families. Being part of a loving family can provide feelings of worth and appreciation and give both parents and children a sense of purpose and belonging. Our intention is that the families that currently live at Homestart get that they matter and can live this fully and pass it on to the community and world.
The NC 147 Leadership team requests your help to make this project possible the weekend starting Saturday February 8, 2014 extending through Sunday February 9, 2014. We will start each workday at 8:00 am at 2505 Homestead Rd, Chapel Hill, NC. Everyone is invited to come out, make a difference, and make this vision become a reality. This project will send a powerful message to these women and children that they matter are loved and are valued. Women For One Interviews Stacia Pache, Founder of ItBandz
Stacia Pache, single mother of two and founder of ItBandz Knee Support Bands, sat down for a recent interview with Kelly McNelis, Founder of Women For One. Pache's 18 year background in product development has helped her build the ItBandz brand. The journey, she said, was challenging, but she found it was incredibly important to have faith and confidence in her own choices. Physical empowerment, she said, has a huge impact on her emotional and spiritual health during this time. The transformation from power mom and executive to a more authentic and blissful lifestyle is inspiring for the Women For One community.
In her younger years, Pache was heavily invested in her career path. After time, however, she came to a place where despite being committed to that vision, she had to take a step back to find out if that was what she still wanted. She asked whether or not success was the meaning she wanted to give her life. Being a super mom and a super executive is an image many women strive for, but she realized that she and all women need to have balance in their lives in order to embrace a more authentic lifestyle that provides true happiness.
At that point, Pache took a risk and completely redesigned her life. She says that it’s the challenging path that leaves women truly fulfilled. Part of the problem is that many women don’t realize that they’re not on that fulfilling life path. It was only by taking a second look at what she really wanted in life and taking that risk that she built a more fulfilling lifestyle.
Pache decided she needed a physical challenge and she signed up for a sprint triathlon with a friend of hers. Despite not being a major athlete, she found that she loved to run. She says she continued running because she found such joy in both the exercise, and in connecting with other runners. For her, it was both a workout and a therapy session. As she ran, she found the inspiration for ItBandz – knee support bands designed specifically for women runners.
Pache says that taking chances, being open, and sharing her truth helped her on her personal journey. Her awareness aligns with Women For One’s mission of authentic story telling as a means of empowering women and making change in the global community.
